Support for Newly Hired Employees

  1. Upon completion of a successful interview, new hires will complete a Self-Assessment of Learning Needs followed by a meet and greet with a Clinical Nurse Educator. During this meeting the educator will review the role and scope of practice with you and identify priorities for training tailored to your specific needs and experience.
  2. Prior to the start of your first day of work, a Clinical Nurse Educator will host a group onboarding session. During this meeting, the Educator will review relevant resources; where to find policies and procedures; navigating our education site; etc.
  3. During your initial working period, your orientation will consist of an established preceptor where you will be considered supernumerary to support your transition into your role. As part of your new hire training, you will also complete our ‘General Onboarding for Nurses’ orientation, which is self directed and in our Learning Management System.
  4. Ongoing support continues beyond the initial onboarding period. We offer the ‘Connect with an Educator Service’, which is an open booking session with a Clinical Nurse Educator available to all nursing staff to assist with questions on policies and procedures; reviewing roles and responsibilities; discussing clinical scenarios; reviewing training and education available; etc.
