Under the supervision of the Director of Health Programs the Supervisor Health Programs provides optimal health to the community and ensures continuity of care. The incumbent will administer a comprehensive community health program in conjunction with other members of the health care team, the incumbent also has the responsibility of managing and providing direct supervision to community health nurses at various levels of qualification and to support staff.
Reporting to the Director Population Health, the Regional Public Health Supervisor position exists to ensure effective leadership and management of Public Health programming within the Kivalliq Region. This position manages the Rankin Inlet Wellness Centre which is a stand-alone facility separate from the Health Centre. This includes the management and supervision of all support staff (Clerk Interpreters, Housekeepers, Caretaker) as well as Nursing, Communicable Disease Coordination, Community Health Representatives and Environmental Health Programming.
We require a public health nurse to fill positions in various communities across Nunavut. The incumbent of this position provides public health services to individuals and groups in the community in accordance with the public health program standards set by the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH). Primary focus is on maternal/child health, school health, communicable disease and immunization programs. The Public Health Nurse also serves as a resource for individuals and groups within the community, providing a public health perspective to community initiated health promotion strategies.
Reporting to the Supervisor Health Programs, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides and autonomously manages health assessment, diagnosis, intervention and follow -up care to the residents of their community in accordance with Nurse Practitioner Acts, regulations, policies, standards, mission and the objectives of the Department of Health and the Government of Nunavut. The position ensures clients receive timely health assessment and diagnosis optimum support and continuity of care.
The NP provides a comprehensive community health service in conjunction with the health care team and works within the context of Primary Health Care to improve the capacity of clients and communities.
Located in Cambridge Bay this position reports to the Director Kitikmeot Regional Health Facility. The position exists to ensure effective leadership and management of the health center under designated authority. The position ensures the provision of professional community health services to clients in accordance with established standards of nursing practice and the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Health. This position promotes optimal health to the community and ensures continuity of care. The incumbent will administer a comprehensive community health program in conjunction with other members of the health community team. Is responsible for stimulating a healthy awareness at the levels of prevention.
The Manager, Maternal& Newborn Services manages the delivery and maintenance of a comprehensive maternal/newborn health services program. Directs, provides and maintains the provision of maternal/newborn health services. Participates in the Department’s management by monitoring and reporting upon issues designed to assist in the development and maintenance of the Maternal/Newborn Health Services. Provides full scope of midwifery care to patients when Registered Midwives are not available due to workload, absences and position vacancies.
The Clinical Nurse Educator provides senior level nursing leadership and clinical experience; promoting quality, culturally safe nursing practice, continuous quality improvement initiatives, optimal health outcomes and positive patient health care experiences. The incumbent will assist nurses working in different roles to acquire the professional competencies to be successful in that role. To do this, the Clinical Nurse Educator will develop, coordinate and deliver the orientation program and training sessions. At times, the incumbent may be required to participate in after-hours, on-call duties when mentoring and training novice Community Health Nurses. The incumbent will also provide ongoing competency assessments and develop learning plans based on those assessments

With a focus on development and retention, the Clinical Nurse Educator will guide the Government of Nunavut’s Nursing workforce; ranging from new nurse, to those with experience working in rural norther communities,.
The Emergency Registered Nurse is a member of the nursing team, providing acute care to the patients in the Emergency Department, responding to health problems with a culturally sensitive and holistic approach. The incumbent will work 12 hour rotating shifts and take direction from the Nurse Manager of Emergency. The ER nurse is responsible for the safe and competent provisions of nursing services in collaboration with other health care team members and support groups involved in providing care.
