Nursing requires a commitment to lifelong learning. It starts with formal education in a school of nursing and continues with ongoing education and professional development through workshops, conferences, certification programs and learning about new and improved technologies and practices. Nunavut offers nursing education through Arctic College and supports the professional development of Nunavut nurses. Nursing students are eligible for bursaries (depending on their GPA) in all years of the Nunavut Arctic College nursing program.

Entry into the nursing program requires solid math and science skills. Applicants can upgrade their educational qualifications and/or qualify for admission through the Arctic College Foundation Year Program which is being offered in Iqaluit, Rankin Inlet and Cambridge Bay.
